Dr. Jerry Savelle at Invigorate West County
Last week we had the privilege of hosting Dr. Jerry Savelle. Wow! What an incredible man of faith! He was such a blessing to Invigorate Church and the other believers that came out that night. He brought an awesome word reminding us that we are more than conquerors! One of our favorite quotes from the night was “If you can’t speak The Word… Then shut up!”

Invigorate Spotlight…
We love to bring attention to individuals who are making a difference in the Kingdom of God and in the world around them. This week we thought we would take some time to honor Lou and Denise Lenz. Lou and Denise have been serving at invigorate for about two years now. They have such a heart for the next generation and it shows! Among many of the responsibilities that they have taken on here at invigorate one stands out and that is our service in State Park, IL. What started as an outreach has turned into a full service reaching about 30-40 people a week, the large majority of which are children. They are meeting needs and seeing God change lives and effect an entire community! Lou and Denise, you are amazing! We love you guys and can’t wait to see the awesome things that God has in store for you this coming year!

Testimony from Overseas…
We received a really encouraging email this past week so we thought we would share it.
“So I’ve been listening to your services for quite a while now and they have been a big blessing in my life. I live out of the country so my family has been sending them on disc, but now you have them online so it’s much easier. Well, I don’t have a church to go to, so i’m basically alone with my bible, and I just kinda pick it up a couple times a day and read some random script from the NT. Which yesterday happened to be the corinthians part talking about tongues and gifts of the spirit. After I read it i was like well that’s not really for me so next page… And then this morning I woke up really early and couldn’t go to sleep again, so i checked your sermon on tongues and wow! It really made think how stupid I was for just thinking that the holy spirit’s gifts and whatnot aren’t really for me, but you opened my eyes, so I guess now I’ll just keep waiting and desiring….. So thanks and keep up the good work! “

Cahokia School Renovation
Hey Invigorate, last year we helped out two schools in our city by improving their campuses. We painted, re-landscaped, built a pond, poured new concrete pathways… we spared no expense. We had leaders from the community come out and thank us last year during and after it was completed but we just received this email this morning that shows that what we did last year made a lasting impression. How fantastic it is to be part of a generous church. We had no agenda…we just wanted to help our communities!!
Take a look at our before and after pictures!!
“I want to thank you so much for the beautification you provided last year at Huffman Elementary School. It really added a beautiful attractiveness to the school that everyone whom enters adore. I just wanted to send you an email to say I really appreciated all your hard work with you and your team whom supported you.”

Encouragement
By: Ray Ayers
(Ray is one of our drummers at invigorate and plays an active roll in the creative arts department. This devotion was shared during one of our creative team training sessions.)
I Thessolonians 5:11 says to comfort and edify, or encourage each other. Paul was an enormous encourager. If you look at all of his letters to the various church’s and people, he is always building them up and speaking encouragement into their lives. He might reprimand them in one verse, but in the next he is promoting confidence in them to do better.
Christians do not get encouragement for their lives from non-believers. In fact, most of the time, they want you to do things that might be detrimental to your walk with God. It’s like being around someone who is constantly negative or depressed. They end up bringing you down to their level and you find yourself with a negative attitude and taking anti-depressives and you don’t know why. This is why, as Christians, we have got to be there to lift each other up. If someone is having a rough day, don’t go talk to them about how your cat’s really sick and probably not going to make it. That is not going to help them out. Actually, don’t talk about yourself at all. Go to them and build them up. If they need you to listen, listen; if they need advice, let God use you to speak to their situation. This is what being an encourager is about.
We can also use encouragement as a form of spiritual warfare. You have to understand that Satan wants you completely discouraged and disheartened in you relationship with God. If he can do that, he doesn’t care if you continue to go to church or are even a Christian, because he knows you won’t be promoting Christ like you should. He might not get you, but he knows you aren’t living completely free and that affects the people around you. Once you become an encourager, you begin to fight against the spirits of apathy and dejection in others and in your life as well.
I know this is extremely simplistic and not anything new, but it is something that everybody can and should do. It’s not difficult to say, “Hey, I’m thankful that you are a part of this church.” or something, like that, and mean it. Plus, it is biblical. The Bible is full of examples of encouragement from the Old Testament to the New Testament. Just remember that we all could use a little pick-me-up once in a while. A good word from a friend can go a long way.

Invigorate Poll Time!!
A man has three wives and children with all three wives. It is their cultural custom for many generations and hence, has never been unusual. Some religions that practice multiple marriages include Mormonism and Islam. What do you believe should be the response of the Church to an individual who receives Jesus Christ as Savior, however, their previous religion condoned and encouraged multiple marriages? The situation could be anywhere in the world.
